Goldendoodles come in three primary sizes: Standard, Medium, and Miniature. Each size has unique characteristics, making them suitable for different living situations and personal preferences.

Standard

Go Big, Stand Out

Height: 18 to 22 inches (at the shoulder)

Weight: 50 to 80 pounds

The Standard Goldendoodle is the largest of the Goldendoodle sizes and can be seen for miles! Known for their affectionate and playful nature, they're ideal for families with space and an active lifestyle — excellent companions for outdoor activities and larger yards.

Medium

The Best of Both

Height: 17 to 20 inches (at the shoulder)

Weight: 30 to 50 pounds

Medium Goldendoodles strike a balance between the larger Standard and the smaller Miniature — a great option for families who want a slightly smaller dog but still desire that energetic, friendly Goldendoodle spirit. Versatile and adaptable to apartments or houses with yards.

Miniature

Small & Loving

Height: 13 to 17 inches (at the shoulder)

Weight: 15 to 35 pounds

The Miniature Goldendoodle is a more compact version of the breed, making it an excellent choice for apartment living or for those who prefer a smaller dog. They retain the same playful, loving personality in a smaller package.

What Determines Full Grown Size?

Factors Influencing Size

  • Poodle Parent SizeThe size of the Poodle parent greatly influences the size of the Goldendoodle. Poodles come in Standard, Miniature, and Toy sizes, playing a significant role in the offspring's size.
  • GeneticsGenetic factors can impact size too. Even with the same Poodle parent, Goldendoodle size can vary due to inherited traits from the Golden Retriever parent.
  • Nutrition & HealthProper nutrition and health care are essential for growth. A balanced diet and regular veterinary care help your Goldendoodle reach their optimal size.

Choosing the Right Size for Your Family

When selecting the right size Goldendoodle, consider the following factors:

Living Space

Larger Goldendoodles need more space to move around comfortably. If you live in a smaller home or apartment, a Miniature Goldendoodle might be a more suitable choice.

Activity Level

Standard Goldendoodles are great for active families who enjoy outdoor activities, while Medium and Miniature Goldendoodles can adapt to a variety of living situations and activity levels.

Allergies

Goldendoodles are known for their minimal shedding and almost hypoallergenic coats, making them a great choice for families with allergy concerns.

Goldendoodles can fit various lifestyles and preferences. Whether you choose a Standard, Medium, or Miniature Goldendoodle, you can be assured of a loving and loyal companion. By understanding the differences in size and considering your living situation and lifestyle, you can find the perfect Goldendoodle for your family.
